by Chris Soens
Animal Friends recounts the author’s experiences with animals she encountered while living variously in Wyoming, California, Colorado, and Louisiana. This endearing and informative collection of short essays describes the sometimes amusing, sometimes surprising behavior of a variety of native wildlife, including tree frogs, lizards, moles, field mice, pikas, flying squirrels, chipmunks, porcupines, killdeer, and marmots, among others.
Author Chris Soens approaches these animals with a curious nature and treats them with tenderness and respect. She shows that animals have unique characteristics and personalities if we take the time to discover them. The essays prove that animals and humans have much to offer each other and are capable of forging a special bond.
