Young Daji has grown weary of his abusive home life. He makes the ultimate decision to leave his home in search of the Promised Land. Taking place in India, this story is a poignant tale about family relationships and struggles through several generations, beginning from the time Daji leaves home and culminating in 1969—the year of the first man landing on the moon.

Rich in tradition and Indian culture, this book will provide the reader with fascinating insight into the history of India and, in particular, the many challenges of being female in India’s society.
