Let’s Go on a Sentimental Journey
by Anthony Taylor
Have you ever felt vexed by today’s fast-paced life, or have disappointments and tragedies taken a tight grip on you that you longed for the days gone by when life was simpler and joys abundant? Has nostalgia enveloped you and made you want to turn back the hands of time to be with a loved one once more?
Anthony Taylor’s book, Let’s Go on a Sentimental Journey, takes us to the past, where some of the famous celebrities were remembered and honored: “When Lucille Ball was around…she was the supreme comedienne of her day…” is attested in “Going Home.” It relives our memories of yesteryears, contemplates on today, and wonders about the future and its uncertainties: “…my life becomes like a time machine. I can travel into the past, I can stay in the present, but I cannot travel into the future,” is imparted in “When I Go Across the East River.” In “Reflections of a Lonely Heart,” the demise of a famous actress brings back grief in the healing heart caused by a dearly departed. “My heart was healed only to feel the presence of death again…I learned the death of Mae West.”
Come aboard the “time machine” and witness a rich tapestry of life experiences worth revisiting.
