by Mary Lou Stiverson

I Knew Me When…River Rat Musings is an articulate collection of essays that emphasizes how quickly the path of one’s life can change – from a young boy buckling to the strains of peer pressure, to a coal miner playing the fateful role of canary, to an adoring husband learning the truth about his deceptive wife. These stories resonate with the reality of the human condition.

While suffering may be inevitable, perseverance to overcome these events is imperative. Invaluable insight can be gained through the great mirror cast in Stiverson’s works. Each riveting essay offers readers the chance to dichotomize their own lives and play a greater role in the fate of their futures.

Mary Lou Stiverson, a graduate of Marshall University, is a retired schoolteacher who lives in Ohio with her husband, James Stiverson.
