by Eileen F. Chao
Young, curious, and full of spirit, Sam is an adventurous puppy who only wants someone to play with. While he can his master, Tommy, are outside playing, Tommy’s mother calls him in to open a package that arrived in the mail. However, when Tommy doesn’t come back after a while, Sam becomes bored and goes looking for someone to spend time with.
Poor Sam! All his adventurous and lively personality does is get him in trouble as he makes his way through the small town he calls home. It seems no one wants to play with him—not the little girls next door, not the kids in the park, not even the kittens at the pet store, all of them telling him, Go Away, Sam!
Eileen F. Chao has created a loveable and mischievous character in Sam, who also teaches the subtle moral that sometimes the best fun can be found right in your own backyard with someone you love.
