by Katharine O. Alberts
Boo on the Loose is a charming celebration of typical events in the life of a four-year-old boy. In an assortment of rhythmic snippets, Katharine O. Alberts portrays everyday happenings in an extraordinary way, and for Boo, every day is an adventure. Boo visits the library and discovers the joy of reading; he makes a kite on a windy day; he hunts for Easter eggs and learns the importance of sharing with his brother; he helps with chores and finds out that “chores can be fun when you work with someone.” The power of rhyme in teaching children creativity for overcoming problems is cleverly utilized in this enjoyable little book. Boo learns valuable lessons about sharing, creativity, fear, love, and responsibility. Boo on the Loose is both fun to read and serves as a creative educational tool for early child development. Approached with gentleness and humor, this is one book all parents should read to their children.
